If you're the kind of person who balks at the vast range of boring black slabs that encase most smartphones, but don't exactly like the yellow or pink offered by Sony with the Xperia Z1 Compact, in the very near future you will be able to pick up a scarlet red Nexus 5 direct from Google.
The Nexus 5 originally shipped in straight black (read the review), which, as practical and standard as it may have been, isn't exactly fascinating to look at. Then the stormtrooper version arrived, with the same look up front, other than the ear piece, and a white plastic rear. It looked a bit more interesting but was still pretty standard. But soon, on February 4th to be exact, you'll be able to pick up a bright red Nexus 5 direct from the Google Play Store, according to a leaked internal Sprint document.
The document adds a lot of credence to the very convincing retail packaging we've seen lately of the red Nexus 5 in a warehouse. The images even have details visible on the bar codes including the color 'red.' While this could still be faked it seems unlikely. A new color addition to the Nexus 5 family might be just what Google needs to take attention away from the possibility that the Nexus line may be coming to an end next year. Grab one while you can.
Would you buy a bright red Nexus 5? What color/combo do you like on a smartphone?
