If there’s one social network that’s certainly not short of third party applications, it’s Twitter. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, given that unofficial Twitter clients are effectively limited to a maximum of 100,000 users. While that might sound like a huge number, if you consider the size of Twitter’s user base and just how quickly a well made application can reach a high number of downloads these days, it’s really not.
Fenix by XDA Forum Member swanz86 is a simple yet effective Twitter client that (despite still being a very early beta offering) provides a clean and efficient third party option for keeping track of your timeline. Some of the application’s current features include:
Clickable links in timelineInline preview of images and YouTube videosTwo styles of inline media preview – small and bigThe usual dark and light themesDedicated tablet layoutQuick access to lists and saved searches from the app left drawerOptional internal web browserMultiple accounts supportAs already mentioned, this is a very early version of the application and the developer intends to keep adding functionality through future updates. For those who cannot seem to settle on a particular Twitter app, this is definitely worth checking out. Perhaps this will be the one to fill the TweetDeck-shaped hole in my heart.
Fenix is available from the application thread and runs on devices sporting Android 4.0 or above.
