Wise Up Your Waze Navigation with Waze UP

The Google-owned Waze GPS navigation app is offers a different take on getting from point A to point B. Rather than simply guiding you there with static maps, Waze relies on its vibrant community to fill in the gaps when there are traffic accidents and other potential issues to get in the way of your daily commute.

Despite the navigation app’s extreme popularity, it’s not perfect. After all, no matter how good any particular app is, there are always a few tweaks that can be implemented to make the experience just a little bit better. XDA Forum Member Giladi came up with the appropriately titled Waze UP, which aims to wise up your Waze app.

Waze UP works by streamlining what happens after you make or receive a call while navigating. For example, if you receive a call while in navigation mode, Waze UP will automatically return you to the Waze app after you pick up. The same goes for outgoing calls. Waze UP also allows you to configure the default amount of time before it returns you to the Waze app, as well as when Waze UP should activate: either automatically every time you enter Waze or manually.

You can head over to the application thread to get started. Just please exercise caution when using your mobile device in your car. Use a car mount, speakerphone, and so on. And for heaven’s sake, don’t fumble with the device in your hands while you should be paying attention to the road.
