Last year, Samsung set sail a huge armada of Galaxy S4 variants, among which was the Galaxy S4 Zoom, a hybrid between a smartphone and a camera. Well now it seems that information regarding a successor has just surfaced.

It is only a question of time until Samsung presented the follow-up models to the Galaxy S5. After the Unpacked event at the Mobile World Congress last month, we can now lay our eyes on some news on the S5 Zoom. The fact that Samsung would progenerate this Zoom line was actually hinted at by Sam Mobile about two months ago, but the details were scarce.

Starting in February, a Samsung device with the model number SM-C115 turned up on an Indian import-export database (S4 Zoom has the model number SM-C101 and SM-105), and now the first details of the smartphone camera have been revealed in the database of a GFXBench graphic benchmark test. According to these new findings, the principal camera should have a resolution of 20 MP and will shoot Full HD videos. The display will be 4.8 inches with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, the processor will be Samsung’s own Exynos 5 with six cores complemented by 2 GB of RAM. It’s quite probable that the S5 Zoom will have a slot for an SD card as well as optical zoom, but there is no indication to this as of yet.
