LG G Watch R Revealed in Teaser Video

Two of the first three Android Wear devices have were released earlier this year at the Google I/O 2014 keynote back in June. Many of you decided to give one of these small devices a go, and you’ve already armed your wrists with the Samsung Gear Live or LG G Watch. But the true diva, the stylish and long anticipated Moto 360 still hasn’t been released. The circular smartwatch from Motorola is right around the corner, and it is set to premiere next week. But more than likely, that Moto 360 won’t be the only Android Wear smartwatch with a circular screen that will be unveiled before the end of August.

One of the I/O participants, LG Electronics, decided to hit the market with yet another Android Wear device. After the square shaped LG G Watch, the Korean OEM decided to try for a more rounded shape, and uploaded a teaser of LG G Watch R to its YouTube channel. This device, which is set to be one of the successors to the standard, square G Watch, will be unveiled in Berlin shortly after the premiere of the Moto 360.

You may see how it looks like in the following video.

The R in name most likely stands for Round. LG’s device has a lone button on the side, so it looks like a traditional watch. LG’s move might be considered a bit weird, because the G Watch has only been on sale for 2.5 months. It also indicates that the rounded sibling must have been in works and almost ready to launch back at I/O. LG, Google, or perhaps both parties didn’t give it a green light, however, and the LG G Watch R had to wait a couple months before its release to the public.

The rounded LG G Watch R and the upcoming Moto 360 aren’t the only smartwatches that will be released in the foreseeable future. Other OEMs like HTC, Asus and our “favorite” Apple are monitoring the situation closely and will likely release their own devices sooner rather than later. Get your wrists and wallets ready!
