Flying a little under the radar in comparison to Samsung's Galaxy S5 launch, the new HTC One and and the Sony Xperia Z2, the small manufacturer making big waves, Oppo, just dropped the world's first 2K display smartphone with the Find 7, beating LG and every other major OEM to the punch. Oppo also announced a Full HD version and a new fitness band by the name of O-Band.

The premium Find 7 features a 5.5-inch QHD display with 2,560x1,440 pixel resolution, making it a graphical masterpiece with an incredible 538 pixels per inch (or 534, depending on whose calculations you believe). The higher-end Find 7 also packs a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor beating at 2.5 GHz, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB storage with expansion up to 128 GB, a 3,000 mAh battery and a 13 MP camera with dual LED flash, like the iPhone and new HTC One. That shooter is also capable of snapping 50 MP pictures by shooting multiple shots and stiching them together. If this sounds like one heck of a new Android, you're absolutely right.

The most incredible part of the story is that the Find 7 will only cost around 599 USD, which is a very good deal for a device with that spec sheet. The Galaxy S5 is outclassed by the Find 7 on a couple of hardware fronts and still costs more. Oppo, of course, being based in China, can pull these kind of specs together at a price usually reserved for the major OEMs they are competing with. Despite not making as many devices, if Oppo can keep up this kind of track record, they will likely be selling just as many Androids as the big boys in the near future.

Add this impressive hardware to Oppo's great relationship with CyanogenMod's Steve Kondik and you also naturally open up the Oppo franchise to modders and tweakers. We tried the Oppo N1 and liked it although as a daily driver it was a bit ridiculously sized for most, but a more suitably sized device like the Find 7 is going to capture many people's attention. If the spec sheet is too much for you too, Oppo is also releasing a Full HD version with 16 GB of storage, 2.3 GHz processor and 2,800 mAh battery along with a nicer 499 USD price tag. The lite or standard version will also have a plastic back compared to the premium model's carbon battery enclosure. Both devices run Oppo's custom Color OS based on Android 4.3 and will be available globally in mid-April.
